Outdoor or indoor locations are both fine. Regarding the indoor location, it must be in a very well enlightened place.
When?
I usually plan the photo sessions in the morning hours or afternoon. In morning and late afternoon hours the sun has a warm glow. At this time is the best natural light for outdoor photo sessions.
What to wear?
First of all wear outfits which are comfortable. If you are planing a family or couple shooting be sure that your clothes are matching in colour and style. To keep your shoot all about you, be sure to avoid strong patterns, accessories that make a statement or attention-grabbing colors that distract the viewer from your natural beauty. Recommended colours to wear are the pastels. If your child has a favourite toy, please let him/her to bring it as well; the toy can be nicely composed in the photos.
